James Mather (Jas Madder (on marriage))

James was born on January 24th, 1788 in Tockholes and his baptism took place there on March 2nd, 1788.¹

James' father was Robert Mather and his mother was Peggy Duerden. His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Esther Mason. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Thomas, Edmund, Richard, Esther and Margaret. He was the oldest of the seven known children. He died after 1861.

- James and Nanny were living at Livesey when Hannah was born. In the 14th century, “Lyvesey” (Tockholes and Livesey) are often combined.
