Peter was born in April 1793 in Warrington and his baptism took place on April 12th, 1793 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1  Peter's father was John Mather and his mother was Ellen Cropper (Dierden).  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Margaret Newell. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Robert, John, Peter, Martha, Margaret, Alice, Alice and Ellen.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 6 in January 1800 in Warrington.  He was buried on January 23rd, 1800 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1
