John was born in February 1735 in Warrington and his baptism took place on February 12th, 1735 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1  John's father was John Mather and his mother was Ellen Blinstone.  His maternal grandparents were Richard Blinstone and Margaret (?). He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, Richard, Peter, Ralph, Joseph, Isaac, Margaret, Ellen and Emma.  He died at the age of 29 in March 1764 in Warrington.  He was buried on February 13th, 1764 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1

‌John and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony on September 5th, 1756 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1  They had a biological son and three biological daughters, named John, Elen, Alice and Mary.  They also had an adopted son named Peter.  There are no more children.
