Emma's father was John Mather and her mother was Ellen Blinstone. Her maternal grandparents were Richard Blinstone and Margaret (?). She had eight brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, John, Thomas, Richard, Peter, Ralph, Joseph, Isaac, Margaret and Ellen. She died at the age of 27 in April 1784 in Warrington. Her burial was on April 6th, 1784 at St. Elphin (Warrington).²
