Peggy's father was James Mather and her mother was Sarah Makin.  Her paternal grandparents were Elias Mather and Margaret Whittle. She had six brothers and six sisters, named William, John, James, James, James, Thomas, Peggy, Ann, Ann, Nancy, Ann and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the thirteen children.  She died as an infant at 7 months old in October 1792 in Bolton.  She was buried on October 7th, 1792 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²
