Nathan was born in 1870 in Adlington and his baptism took place on March 20th, 1870 at Christ Church (Adlington).¹

Birth Notes

Nathan's father was James Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Ratcliffe. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Amy (Amey or Emy) Worsley. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Isaac, Thomas, Mary, Ellen, Sarah, Margaret, Ann, Alice and Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the ten children.
