Alice was born in 1865 in Adlington and her baptism took place on December 31st, 1865 at Christ Church (Adlington).¹

Birth Notes

Alice's father was James Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Ratcliffe. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Amy (Amey or Emy) Worsley. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Isaac, Thomas, Nathan, Mary, Ellen, Sarah, Margaret, Ann and Elizabeth. She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
