Mary was born in May 1802 in Breightmet and her baptism took place on May 23rd, 1802 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Mary's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Brabin.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Betty Thornley. She had three brothers and nine sisters, named James, Thomas, Martha, Betty, Alice, Hannah, Sarah, Margaret, Mary, Ellen, Mary and Jane.  She died at the age of 2 in May 1804 in Breightmet.  She was buried on May 21st, 1804 at St. Peter's (Bolton).
