Martha was born in July 1815 in Breightmet.  Martha's father was John Mather and his mother was Ann Brabin.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Betty Thornley. He had two brothers and ten sisters, named James, Thomas, Betty, Alice, Hannah, Mary, Sarah, Margaret, Mary, Ellen, Mary and Jane.  He died at 9 months old in April 1816 in Breightmet.  He was buried on May 3rd, 1816 at St. Peter's (Bolton).
