Jane was born in July 1817 in Breightmet. Jane's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Brabin.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Thornley. She had three brothers and nine sisters, named James, Thomas, Martha, Betty, Alice, Hannah, Mary, Sarah, Margaret, Mary, Ellen and Mary.  She died at 8 months old in March 1818 in Breightmet.  She was buried on April 1st, 1818 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1
