John Mather

John was born in 1853 in Middleton and his baptism took place on April 17th, 1853 at St. Leonard (Middleton).¹²

John's father was William Mather and his mother was Eliza Graham. His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel (Nathan) Mather and Alice Brooks. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Joseph, Alfred, Fred, Hannah, Jane, Polly, Alice, Eliza, Marion and Martha. He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 64 in October 1917 in Manchester.³
