John Mather

John was born in 1796 in Middleton and his baptism took place there on September 21st, 1796.¹

  John son of Bold Mather Tailor & Alice his wife of Land's End, Heaton. This is probably Heaton Park, Manchester and not the Heaton by Bolton.

John's father was Bold (Bould) Mather and his mother was Alice Taylor. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Eckersley. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Ann, Mary and Mary. He was the second oldest of the six children. He had two half-sisters named Nancy and Eliza. He died at the age of 70 on August 7th, 1866 in Heywood.²

  The Will of John Mather late of Heywood in the Township of Heap in the Parish of Bury in the County of Lancaster, Sand Dealer and Carrier, deceased, who died 7 Aug 1866 at Heywood aforesaid was proved at Manchester by the oath of Ann Mather of 20 Ormerod Street, Heywood aforesaid. Widow the Relict one of the Executors.
