Mary's father was Bold (Bould) Mather and her mother was Alice Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Eckersley. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John, John, James, Ann and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the six children. She had two half-sisters named Nancy and Eliza.  She died in January 1805 in Middleton.  She was buried on January 10th, 1805 in Middleton.³
