Jane's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Manock. Her paternal grandparents were Bold (Bould) Mather and Alice Taylor. She had six brothers and four sisters, named James, Moses, John, Joseph, <male>, Samuel, Mary, Alice, Sarah and Ann. She was the youngest of the eleven children.
