James Mather

James was born on March 11th, 1819 in Whitefield.¹

Birth Notes
- Aged 21 in 1841 at Half Acre, Pilkington

James' father was Jesse Mather and his mother was Hannah Emmerson. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Scholes. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Robert, Joseph, Nathan, Aaron, Betty, Ellen, Hannah, Mary, Sarah, Rachel and Leah. He had an adopted sister named Esther. He died at the age of 75 on July 21st, 1894 in Whitefield. His burial was in July 1894 in Stand.²

- 9 Jan 1843. James Mather, weaver, son of Jesse Mather married Eliza Morris of Miffleton at Middleton.
  
  In 1861, James & Eliza (41 & 39) were at Whitefield, Pilkington with their three daughters Hannah, Mary and Alice (18, 15, 10)
