Esther Mather (Allen)

Esther was born in 1834 in Whitefield.¹

Esther's father was Thomas Allen and her mother was Alice Mather. She had a brother and three sisters, named Jesse, Betty, Ellen and Hannah. She was the oldest of the five known children. She was adopted by Jesse Mather & Hannah Emmerson.

General Notes
- In 1841, Esther (8) was living at Half Acre with Jesse and Hannah (both 49) and family. She is the same age as Arron, so may be his twin sister, but may also be adopted as a daughter of Thomas, not Jesse.
  
  In 1851, Esther Mather was not with Jesse and Hannah and family. Esther "Allen" (17) was with her parents Thomas and Alice Allen at Stand, neighbours of Joseph and Nancy Mather.
  
  1 June 1856 Esther Mather a weaver at Half Acre, Whitefiled, daughter of Thomas Mather a gardener married Edmund Berry.
