Hannah was born in 1825 in Whitefield.1  Hannah's father was Jesse Mather and her mother was Hannah Emmerson.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Scholes. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Robert, James, Joseph, Nathan, Aaron, Betty, Ellen, Mary, Sarah, Rachel and Leah. She had an adopted sister named Esther.
