Henry's father was Moses Mather and his mother was Ann Adamson.  His paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Catherine Mather. He had five brothers and three sisters, named James, Joseph, William, Edward, John, Mary, Catherine and Alice.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died at 6 months old in December 1893 in Bolton.¹
