Catherine Mather

Catherine was born in December 1844 in Westhoughton and her baptism took place on February 19th, 1845 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).¹²

Birth Notes
- There are three Catherine Mathers born about this time. This Catherine was the illegitimate daughter of Alice Mather. The other two were daughters of William Mather & Margeret Smith (born 1845) and Joseph Mather & Jane Smith (born 1847).

  In 1861, Catherine was the step-daughter of Simon Ratcliffe, after he had married Alice Mather in 1857.
  
  It seems that Catherine was the first to retire to Blackpool, with other family following soon after.
