Hannah was born in January 1806 in Billinge and her baptism took place on January 12th, 1806 at St. Aidan (Billinge).1  Hannah's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Betty Anderton.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Hannah Cross. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, Richard, Richard, Henry, James, James, Mary and Hannah.  She was the third youngest of the ten children.
