Betsy's father was John Mather and her mother was Martha Jordan. Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Mary Wood. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James, Samuel, William, Robert, Thomas, John, Mary, Ellen, Hannah, Hannah and Martha. She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.

General Notes
- This is NOT the Betsy who married James Blackledge, as that Betsy's father was John a Quarryman from Deane. This Betsy most probably married Thomas Morris (1880) or possibly William H Driver (1881).
