Alice was born on October 3rd, 1770 in Bolton and her baptism took place on January 17th, 1771 at Bank Street Unitarian conducted by Reverend Philip Holland.1 2  Alice's father was James Lomax and her mother was Mary Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were John Lomax and Ellen Cross. She had a brother and three sisters, named John, Mary, Jenny and Happy.  She was the youngest of the five children. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Arthur, Mary, Elizabeth, Esther and Ann.  She died at the age of 81 in 1851 in Bolton.3

‌Alice and John were married in a religious ceremony on August 25th, 1790 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by J Folds and witnessed by William Orrell and Richard Mangnall.4   They had six sons and two daughters, named Josiah, John, Peter, Robert, Richard, James, Elizabeth and Alice.  There are no more children.
