Jane, known as Jenny, was born on November 2nd, 1762 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on January 7th, 1763 at Bank Street Unitarian conducted by Reverend Philip Holland.1 2  Jenny's father was James Lomax and her mother was Mary Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were John Lomax and Ellen Cross. She had a brother and three sisters, named John, Mary, Happy and Alice.  She was the second oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Arthur, Mary, Elizabeth, Esther and Ann.
