John Lomax

John was born on March 5th, 1765 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on May 6th, 1765 at Bank Street Unitarian conducted by Reverend Philip Holland.¹

  John Lomax, born at Little Bolton on 5 March, was baptized on 6 May 1765, the son of James & Mary Lomax of Little Bolton [Microfilm of Baptismal Record of the Parish Church of Bolton – St. Peter, and the Parish Church of Turton]

John's father was James Lomax and his mother was Mary Taylor. His paternal grandparents were John Lomax and Ellen Cross. He had four sisters named Mary, Jenny, Happy and Alice. He was the third oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Arthur, Mary, Elizabeth, Esther and Ann.

General Notes
- Marriage to Margaret Andrews in 1787 is a likely candidate (as aged 22). John and Esther Entwistle in 1874 by license is too early (although possible DNA 12cM DNA link with Annaleise Nicholls)
  
  Marriage to Jane Watson in 1791 is very possible, as children baptised at Ridgway Gates Wesleyan, which would tie in with sister Happy Lomax's children.
  
  He may have marrried a Betty. John and Betty Chadwick were married in 1789 and alive in Bolton in 1841, but could easily be another as John Lomax is a common name in these times.
