Ann was born in 1828 in Farndon and her baptism took place on September 14th, 1828 at St. Chad (Farndon).1  Ann's father was Samuel Hopley and her mother was Mary Saunders.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Hopley and Mary Poovah. She had two brothers and a sister, named Charles, Thomas and Emma.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother named John.
