Harold's father was William Higgins and his mother was Minnie (Annie) Eddowes. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Eddowes and Mary Ann Hughes. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Bernard, William, John, Arthur, Bessie and Minnie. He was the sixth oldest of the seven children. He died at 6 months old in March 1913 in Wrexham.²
