Happy was born on November 14th, 1880 in Bolton and her baptism took place on November 28th, 1880 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Happy's father was James Cunliffe Hamer and her mother was Happy Collings.  Her paternal grandparents were Peter Hamer and Elizabeth (Betsy) Cunliffe; her maternal grandparents were John Collings and Sarah Williams. She had six sisters named Sarah, Mary, Emma, Maria, Eva and Ethel.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 72 in 1952 in Bolton.1
