• General Notes
  • With no mother to look after them, John, Mary, Willian and James were sent to St. Vincent's, a Poor Law School in Fulwood, Preston, and subsequently all except John sent to Canada as "British Home Child" through the Catholic Emigrating Association.
    
    In about 1924, William joined the merchant marine and just two years later, in Oct 1926, died from drowning when he fell into the cold waters of the Montreal harbour while hanging below a ship, painting it.
