John was the son of Ard Crolsland (c.f. Marriage)
There are two John Croslands from Golcar born 1824. The other is the son of Mary and Charles (both on 1851 Lindley census).
In 1841, John (18) was with his parests at Oakes, Lindley.
In 1846, John son of Ard married Mary Davidson. They had 6 children, but only Phebe (13), Joel (10) and Luther (1) survived to the 1860 census.
Wife Mary died in 1861, and 8 Mar 1863, John, 38, Widower son of Ard married Mary Brook at Kirkheaton, St John the Baptist.
In 1871, John and Martha (46 & 38) were with Joel (20), Luther (12), Lucy (6), Anne (4), John (2) and Lewis (2).
Family Pictures
John and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on May 10th, 1846 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).2 They had four sons and two daughters, named Joel, Sam, Tom, Luther, Phoebe and Clara. There are no more children.
