Tom was born in May 1855 in Lindley.1  Tom's father was John Crosland and his mother was Mary Davison.  His paternal grandparents were Ard Crosland and Phoebe Drake. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Joel, Sam, Luther, Phoebe and Clara.  He was the third youngest of the six children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Lewis, Lucy and Ann.  He died at the age of 3 in September 1858 in Lindley.1
