Ard was born in March 1783 in Lindley and his baptism took place on June 8th, 1783 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).^1 2

Ard's father was Edward Crosland and his mother was Hannah Mason. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named James, John, Benjamin, John, Joseph, Edward, Edy, Nanny and Hannah.  He was the third youngest of the ten known children.  He died at the age of 69 in March 1852 in Huddersfield.  He was buried in April 1852 in Highfield (Independent).^3 4

‌Ard and Phoebe were married in a religious ceremony on May 15th, 1803 at St. Peter (Huddersfield) by Curate William Robinson and witnessed by Joseph & Edward Crosland.⁶   They had four sons and three daughters, named George, Edward, David, John, Rhoda, Sarah and Mason.  There are possibly more children.
