Hannah was born in 1730 in Austonley and her baptism took place on July 16th, 1730 in Holmfirth.1  Hannah's father was John Crosland and her mother was Hannah Garthside. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named Richard, Samuel, John, John, Thomas, John, Joseph, James, Joseph, Anne, Mary, Grace and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the fourteen children.
