Anne was born in 1736 in Austonley and her baptism took place on May 29th, 1736 in Holmfirth.1  Anne's father was John Crosland and her mother was Hannah Garthside. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named Richard, Samuel, John, John, Thomas, John, Joseph, James, Joseph, Hannah, Mary, Grace and Sarah.  She was the fifth oldest of the fourteen children.
