Robert's father was George Brooks and his mother was Agnes Almond. His paternal grandparents were Charles Brooks and Ann Price. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, William, George, Charles, Harriet, Mary, Eliza, Annie and Alice. He was the eighth oldest of the ten children. He died at 1 months old in November 1915 in Halliwell. His burial was on November 3rd, 1915 in Astley Bridge.²¹
