James Boothroyd

James was born in September 1846 in Stalybridge.¹

James' father was William Boothroyd and his mother was Mary Stocks. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Stocks and Sarah (Sally) Campinot. He had three brothers and a sister, named William, George, Joseph and Sarah. He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-sister named Eliza.

  Acording to his letter to uncle Joseph Stocks, James and Alice had a son, Walter Boothroyd and a baby Mary in 1875 and was living at Ashton-Under-Lyne. This is confirmed by the census records.
  
  James stayed in Ashton and married Alice, whilst the other members of the family probably emigrated to the USA.
