Mary Stocks

Mary was born on October 6th, 1819 in Berry Brow and her christening took place on December 26th, 1819 in Almondbury.¹²

  Note: Sally is a nickname for Sarah.

Mary's father was Benjamin Stocks and her mother was Sarah (Sally) Campinot. Her paternal grandparents were George Stocks and Mary Blackburn; her maternal grandparents were James Campinot and Grace Shaw. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Homer, James, Joseph, Ellen, Ann and Emma. She was the oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 41 on February 12th, 1861 in Ashton-under-Lyne.³

Death Notes
- According to a letter from William Boothroyd, Mary and the other three daughters died before 1875 (i.e. died before both her parents).
  
  Not present on 1861 census, so may have died by then. There are 22 deaths for Mary Boothroyd in Huddersfield between 1851 and 1861, but ages are not available from the index. There is also a death for Mary Boothroyd in Q1-1861 in Ashton, aged 42 which is likely to be her:

- Mary's mother was recorded as Sally, a pet name for Sarah.
  
  Mary and William had 4 children (and a 5th may have died young). Mary's father is recorded as Benjamin Stocks, a Cloth Dresser, and still alive in 1843. William Boothroyd's father was also William (deceased).
  
  In 1851, William (37), a Grocer and Tea Dealer and Mary (32) were at 25 Newworthy Street, Dukinfield with James (4) and William H (1)
