William Booth

William was born in June 1852 in Little Bolton.¹

  There were two baptisms for William Booth in 1852, one on 4 Jul at Farnworth, son of James and Alice Booth. The other on 20 Jun 1852 at Bolton, son of John and Jane Booth. There is no baptism for son of James and Ann. There is also a John and Eliza Booth family, but William is more likely to be the son of James and Ann (as she died).

William's father was James Booth and his mother was Ann Mather. His paternal grandparents were Luke Booth and Esther Hamer; his maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Luke, Luke, Esther, Betty, Margaret and Mary. He was the youngest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Thomas. He died at the age of 5 in March 1858 in Little Bolton.¹
