Mary's father was James Booth and her mother was Ann Mather. Her paternal grandparents were Luke Booth and Esther Hamer; her maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Luke, Luke, William, Esther, Betty and Margaret. She was the sixth oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Thomas. She died at the age of 7 on January 7th, 1858 in Little Bolton. Her burial was in January 1858 at Christ Church, Walmsley.³¹
