Betty was born in July 1840 in Turton and her baptism took place on December 13th, 1840 in Bolton.1 2  Betty's father was James Booth and her mother was Ann Mather.  Her paternal grandparents were Luke Booth and Esther Hamer; her maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Luke, Luke, William, Esther, Margaret and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Thomas.  She died at the age of 24 in 1864 in Little Bolton.1

‌Betty and Thomas were married in a civil ceremony in 1862 in Bolton.1   They had a son named James.  There are no more children.
