Stanley was born on October 30th, 1924 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.  Stanley's father was John Thomas LONG and his mother was Maggie HALL.  His paternal grandparents were Robert LONG and Sarah PEARCE; his maternal grandparents were George HALL and Margaret Crowley SHILTON. He had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Reginald, George, Grace, Maggie, Lily, Beatrice and Dorothy.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died  due to Killed in action at the age of 20 on February 24th, 1945 in between Pfalzdorf and Goch, Germany.  He was buried in 1945 in Reichswald War Cemetary, Germany.
