Robert was born on October 8th, 1848 in Wolverley, Broadwaters Borough, Kidderminster.  Robert's mother was Elizabeth LONG.  His maternal grandparents were Richard LONG and Elizabeth SMITH. He had six brothers and two sisters, named George, Charles, John, William, James, Walter, Julia and Annie.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 66 on February 1st, 1915 in Wokhouse Infirmary, West Bromwich.1
