David was born on April 3rd, 1801 in Wythe, VA.1   David's father was Alexander Orr and his mother was Margaret Peggy Ramsey.  His paternal grandfather was Arthur Orr. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William, John, Robert, James, Andrew, Alexander, Patrick, Elizabeth, Mary Polly, Mary Margaret and Nancy M.  He was the third youngest of the twelve children. He had three half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named William, Hugh, Alexander Jr, Margaret Peggy, Jane, Elizabeth, Martha, Mary Polly, Nancy and Isabel(Lolia)(Ila)Orr.  He died at the age of 90 on April 12th, 1891 in Lee, VA.1
