Peter Jacob Troxell 
Peter Jacob was born about 1780 in Loudon Co. VA. Peter Jacob's father was George Jacob Troxell and his mother was Cornblossom Doublehead. His paternal grandparents were David Troxell and Anna Elizabeth Saeger; his maternal grandparents were Chief Doublehead Tal-Tsu`ska Chuqualataque and Creat Pryber. He had a brother and four sisters, named William, Catherine `Katy`, Margaret `Peggy`, Elizabeth and Sarah. He was the oldest of the six children. Peter was actually married to Standing Fern and Jane Stevenson at the same time, according to some of the history passed down by descendants of George Jacob and Cornblossom (although others claim that Standing Fern/Jane Stevenson were one and the same.) Jane Stevenson, a white woman, married Peter "Little Jake" Troxell during the early 1800`s (although Jane was apparently never able to prove the marriage for purposes of a pension claim.) According to the history, Jane had run off from the white settlement to join Cornblossom and the Cherokee nation. The Franklinites, apparently headed by a Hiram "Big Tooth" Gregory who served under John Sevier (first governor of Tennessee), were already stirred in their hatred for the Cherokee, and Jane`s defection fueled that flame. After the massacre at Ywhoo Falls in 1810, Jane Stevenson "whether forcibly or willingly, took the children of her husband Peter and (Standing Fern) into survival" by marrying the son of Hiram "Big Tooth" Gregory (also named Hiram) who was a "fire and brimstone mountain preacher."
