Peter Trachsel 
Peter was born in 1691 in Alsace Lorraine, France. Peter's father was Jakob+ Trachsel and his mother was Margaretha+ Brengal. His paternal grandparents were Hans Jakob+ Trachsel and Elizabeth+ Gunset; his maternal grandparents were Steffen+ Brengal and Elsbeth+ Bratten. He had four brothers and a sister, named Jacob, Johannes, Christian, Benedikt and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 75 on April 16th, 1766 in Whitehall Twp., PA.General Notes
The Troxell family of PA "descend from French Huguenot, Holland, and German ancestors. Four ancestors, Troxell, Michelet (Mickley), Deschler, and Fogel, came to Lehigh County, PA , two receiving the same coat-of-arms as Lords of Beauval (Beauvais?) and Interval by Louis XI of France, and another fought bravely under Louis IX in the Holy Land." Peter was baptised on 11/06/1691 in Lenk, Switzerland, according to "Troxel(l)`s Trails and Tales; however, we believe him to have been born in Alsace Lorraine, France. Sponsors for his baptism were: Staffe Pfund and Jakob Jaggi. He and his family emigrated from the Palatinate on the ship "Samuel" 8/17/1733 (Hugh Percy, master) from Rotterdam. Peter, along with his son Peter, became certified "citizens of Great Britain" on April 24, 1742.
The family was among the first settlers of the Jordan Valley, near the Jordan Creek, so named because it "flowed through a country, the south of which was like the desert of Petrea and the north was the fruitful country of Palestine." The "1744 house" (see attached photo) was used during the French and Indian Wars, when settlers in the area took refuge there to escape marauding Indians. Meetings of the Jordan RefOrned Church were held there, and in 1761, Peter, Jr. used part of the structure as a tavern.

‌Peter and Juliana Catharina were married in a religious ceremony in 1721. They had six sons and two daughters, named Peter Johannes, Daniel Johannes, David, Johannes Michael or John Peter, Christian, George Frederick, Juliana Margaretha and Maria Margaretha.
