Richilda was born about 1034 in Mons, Hainault, Belgium.  Richilda's father was Count Renier V of Mons in Hainault and her mother was Mathilde de Verdun.  Her paternal grandparents were Regnier de Hainault IV and Princess Hedewige Capet of France; her maternal grandfather was Count Hermann de Verdun and her maternal grandmother is Mathilde von Dagsbourg.  She was an only child.  She was buried in Hasnon Abbey.


Richilda's family with Count Baldwin ("the Peaceable") I of Hainaut

‌Richilda and "the Peaceable" were married in a religious ceremony in 1055.  They had a son named Baldwin.
