Kunigunde was born about 1205 in Swabia, Germany.  Kunigunde's father was Emperor Philip II von Hohenstaufen and her mother was Princess Irene Angelica of Byzantium.  Her paternal grandparents were Emperor Frederich von Hohenstaufen III of the Holy Roman Empire and Beatrix de Bourgogne; her maternal grandfather was Emperor Isaac Angelus II and her maternal grandmother is Irene Kalusine Comnena. She had three sisters named Elisabeth, Beatrice Elizabeth and Maria.  She was the second youngest of the four children.  She died on September 13th, 1248.

‌Kunigunde and Wenceslas were married in a religious ceremony in 1224 in Praha, Praha, Czechoslovakia.  They had a son named Premysl Otakar.
