His paternal grandparents were RICHARD Patton Bailey and ELIZABETH Anne Belcher; his maternal grandparents were SAMUEL Ferguson and MARY Jameson. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Richard Patton, Jameson Walker, Henry, John, Eli, MARY Elizabeth, Mary Frances, Sarah and Margaret. He was the oldest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers named Zachariah Henry and Elijah P.. He died at the age of 80 on March 10th, 1873 in Mercer Co., West Virginia.
