Richard Patton was born about 1795 in Wythe Co., Virginia.1   Richard Patton's father was RICHARD Patton Bailey and his mother was ISABEL F. Ferguson.  His paternal grandparents were RICHARD Patton Bailey and ELIZABETH Anne Belcher; his maternal grandparents were SAMUEL Ferguson and MARY Jameson. He had five brothers and four sisters, named SAMUEL L., Jameson Walker, Henry, John, Eli, MARY Elizabeth, Mary Frances, Sarah and Margaret.  He was the second oldest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers named Zachariah Henry and Elijah P..  He died in May 1865 in Montcalm Co., Michigan.1
