John James was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.1 John James' father was WILLIAM Jameson and his mother was SARAH COLLINS. His paternal grandparents were JOHN Jameson and JANET KEEN. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, James, David, Alexander, George, William, Andrew, Sarah and Katherine. He died before February 29th, 1776 in Augusta Co., Virginia.1 General Notes

Inherited 237 acres on Jackson River in 1753 from his fathe r, William
Jameson.
Created and maintained roads in Augusta County with the Pee rys:
1) assigned on August 20, 1752 to work on the "road from Yo ung's Mill to
Alexr. Richey's smith shop, thence to Buchanan's mills" i n a group of men
that included Geo. Peary and James Peary; 2) assigned on No vember 21,
1752 "to work the road under Saml. Wallace from top of Nort h Mountain to
this Co." with a group of men including Thos. Piery and Jam es Peary; 3)
assigned on March 21, 1753 "to keep road formerly laid of f from James
Young's Mill to said Buchanan's Mill" with a group of men i ncluding
George Peary, Thomas Peary, and James Peary.
Became "Ensign of Troop of Horse" on November 22, 1755.
Served in the militiaunder Capt. Patrick Martain for 8 day s in 1756,
from August 26 to September 3, for a shilling a day. Joh n Perrie served
for 36 days from August 4 to September 9 for the same dail y pay.
John Jamison is referenced on May 18, 1762 as an executor i n the probate
of John Peery's will, and also in John Peery's appraisemen t on November
19, 1762.
104 acres of John Jameson added to tithables onNovember 16 , 1763.
John and William Jamison were the witnesses at the court ac tion on August
20, 1765 in Augusta County naming John Peery as the guardia n of his
nephew, Thomas Peery, son of Thomas Peery I, deceased.
John is listed in the Augusta Parish Vestry Book as follows:
"Processioned by Wm. Bell, ... 1767-8, viz: for James Peere y, ... , for
John Jamison, ..."
His will states that he has nine children, but none of the m are named.
His will was probated on 29 February 1776 in Augusta County.
On March 19, 1776, Thomas Jameson is bondedas the administr ator of John
Jameson's will.
