Peter was born in 1833 in Overton, Bradford Co., Pa...1 Peter's father was Henry Sherman and his mother was Catherine Hunsinger. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Sherman and Elizabeth Williams; his maternal grandparents were Johan Jurg Huntzinger and Mary Ann. He had five brothers and a sister, named George, Daniel, Amos, Henry, Jacob and Mary. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had six half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Nelson, William, John, Moses, Andrew Washington, Edward, Catherine, Loretta, Vielene, Caroline and Anna.
